"Challenge" means doing what you want or need to do, even when it frightens you. My challenge is empowering students to engage with global problems through English.
Elegance comes from moving through the world in a way that is true to yourself and your values — something I believe is essential in today's global society.

We live in a world full of problems — but also full of solutions. In my classes, students don't just develop English skills; they learn to think critically about global issues and share their ideas with confidence, in and beyond the classroom.

English is a tool — but what you do with it is what matters. Don't let your English begin and end in the classroom. Let it open doors: speak with the international community, study abroad, pursue globally-minded careers. Above all, make connections.

Speaking Skills
In this class, students focus on real-time English communication. Rather than chasing perfection, we work on expressing ourselves with confidence and personality. Topics range from everyday conversation to global events and new technology — there's always something interesting to discuss.
Speaking up in class can feel intimidating. I focus on building a classroom environment where every student feels comfortable and confident enough to share their voice.
The comments that make me happiest are those that say, "I've never thought about this before." Watching students encounter new perspectives on the world is truly my favorite part of teaching.
Baika is a small, close-knit community — and it genuinely feels like one. Being able to build real, lasting connections with both students and colleagues is something truly special.
I often feel I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me. Students bring such rich and varied perspectives to the classroom — I think of them as partners in education.
Small class sizes mean students can build unusually close relationships with peers and instructors. I encourage students to make the most of this — developing the skills and connections needed to navigate our global world.

Try it anyway
As someone shy and perfectionist by nature, I've often held back — even from things I truly wanted. I've learned that what stands between me and my goals is usually just fear. So now, I remind myself: try it anyway.
