Education in the United States

授業の目標（講義概要）

This course will serve as an introduction to the history of the educationalsystem in the United States and the problems it faces today．

授業計画

We will cover the following topics in this class： 1．Overview of education 2．Different theories of education 3．History of education for women and minorities 4. Bilingual education 5．Desegregation，busing，School choice 6．College admissions 7．Central control vs．local control 8．Paying for public eduction 9．Others，to be announced * Please note that all lectures，materials，and written work will be in English.

評価方法

There will be two exams during the term．The first will be during the sixth or seventh class meeting．No books，notes，or notebooks will be allowed during the exams．Both tests will be essay style． I will give you a list of review questions one week before the test．l willtake the test questions from this list．
