授業の目標（講義概要）

As the name implies, this course is an introduction to the United States．This is a first look at a country different from Japan in size and racial composition．

授業計画

We will study the following topics in this class: PART ONE−Places l．Geography of the United States 2．Washington，D.C. 3. New York PART TWO−People l. Native Americans 2. Immigration 3. Demography PART THREE−Holidays l．Christmas 2. New Year's 3．The 4th of July

評価方法

l．Exams：There will be two exams during the term．The first will be after PART ONE．The second exam will be after PARTS TWO and THREE． No books, notes，dictionaries，or notebooks will be allowed during the exams． The tests will be in English．L will give you a list of sample questions one week before the test．You should try to answer these at home in preparation for the test．I will select the test questions from this list. 2．Assignments：There will be some in−class assignments．You will be given a grade on these. 3．Language policy：NOTE that all work is to be written in English and all lectures will be in English．
